A Better Chance in Darien

Bettina Arkhurst

This year, I am a senior at Darien High School. I was born in New York and have lived in New Jersey for most of my life. I lived in Ghana for a year and a half, but came back to the United States for 7th grade. My favorite color is red. I love laughing. I think fiction stories are the most fun to write and dancing in the rain is one of my favorite past times (but it is unacceptable in a hurricane).

I have always been really creative and I love the arts. I am always listening to music. I enjoy dancing, drawing and painting. I love creative writing and basically any way I can express myself. I love meeting new people, but usually find it awkward when talking to people for the first time because I get nervous and I tend to babble on and on.

I enjoy life, as I believe everyone should. I enjoy a sense of independence because I never like to be held back. Being bored is the worst thing in the world, to me. I always feel like there is something to do, someone new to meet, and something different to experience. Whenever I learn something that is new and relevant to life, I love it. I am not sure what I would like to become when I get older and I fear that I may never know. I just hope to have some kind of good impact on the lives of as many people as I can.
