Why did you choose ABC in Darien?
I chose ABC in Darien because it was a great program that really tries to help girls from underserved communities have a shot at a better education that I knew I wasn't going to get in my hometown.
What makes a Community School Program Special?
A CSP is special because it's smaller, which means you get more specialized help rather than a boarding school, where there are hundreds of other students going through a similar process of living away from home. I feel like I know all the board members and other girls really well, so I feel comfortable asking for help.
One thing you want the Darien community to know about the ABC program
One thing I want the community to know about ABC Darien is that we (the girls) are more involved than you'd think. We might be teammates with your daughter on the cross-country team or have seen one of us lead in in the Theatre 308 musical. Say hi!
Describe the vibe at the ABC house and what it means to you
I'd describe the ABC house as chill. We all have personalities that complement each other that make dinner conversations interesting and funny. If one person has a bad day we notice it, and vice versa.
What are you most looking forward to this school year?
I'm looking forward to getting through the college application process and vacationing with my friends over Spring Break.
What activities are you involved in (or interested in getting involved in for the new scholars)?
I'm involved in helping with Unified Sports, running the Black Student Union club, I'm a mentor for transfer students in the New Wave Mentor program, I work at A Little Something White, and I volunteer at Person to Person.
How has ABC in Darien had an impact on you?
ABC in Darien taught me the value of putting yourself out there and making connections. People are willing to help you, so you have to learn to ask for help when needed.
What else should we know about you?
Fun fact about me: I went to France for me month for my travel abroad trip after my Sophomore year.
