ABC in Darien works because of our incredible network of volunteers throughout the local community. Volunteers support all aspects of the scholars’ experience. There are many ways to be involved and make an impact.

Help our scholars get to and from activities, jobs and volunteer commitments while getting to know these amazing young women and seeing the impact they make in our town
Each new ABC Scholar is assigned a Host Family for the four years they live in Darien. The scholars spend one weekend a month at their Host Family’s home participating in the activities of that family. The Host Family’s role is one of the most important roles during the scholar’s time at ABC. Host families not only make the scholar feel like they have a “home away from home” in Darien but often form long-lasting relationships that last long after graduation. Our volunteer board members give their time and expertise to ensure the long-term success of the program. There are varying roles based on your interest and availability including: fundraising, scholar selection, finance, marketing and communications, wellness and enrichment, college advising, administration and compliance and more!
If you don’t have the time to commit to board membership, but want to be involved, let us know. We can find a role that suits you!
